Adam Blyth continued the low scores at Stonecutters Ridge Golf Club in the second round of the NSW Open.
Playing in the morning field, Blyth enjoyed the best of the morning conditions to fire 9-under 63.
Following on from a superb opening round 8-under 65 in the afternoon wind, Blyth is now 16-under the card and leading by two heading into the weekend rounds.
"I putted very well, especially yesterday. Finishing with four birdies in the last four holes always boosts your round up," said Blyth, who was bogey free today.
"Even though yesterday was a shot or two harder with the breeze, I got away with a nice bogey-free start today, it was a very solid game and the putter was the thing out there today.
"I want to keep my confidence high for the next days and not get too excited about the birdies or too down about the bogeys."
Blyth has been in excellent form this year having won the South Pacific Open Championship in September and is now looking for a strong finish to his 2016 ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia season.
"I have been working really hard the whole year. The start of the year was a bit scratchy, I had some okay results," added Blyth, who has had four top-20 finishes this year.
"But it is really nice when you see the good results and you just want to work even harder when it starts to pay off. I just have to keep riding the wave."
While the putts were dropping for Blyth his real secret weapon was his caddy; girlfriend Nicole Kelsey.
While his regular caddy and father Steve will be back looping on the weekend, Blyth credited Kelsey for helping him into a position to win his second tournament of the year.
"Nicole has been the secret weapon. It’s great having her around, she does all the food and nutrition and gets all of this ready for me," added Blyth.
"She says all the right things out there, keeps me calm. She doesn’t talk about what a normal caddy would talk about. We are having a good laugh."
"Dad will be here tonight to finish the week end off. I am sure she will be giving him a bit of banter on how good she is."
However, Matthew Millar is lurking dangerously on the leaderboard. With rounds of 64 and 66, Millar is just two shots behind Blyth on a course he says fits his eye perfectly.
"There has been some really good scoring. 16-under is a great score but I felt like I played pretty well again today," said Millar, who finished runner-up to Ben Eccles last year.
"I just have an eye for the golf course, I love it. I have played well here two years in a row,’ said Millar.
"The course is so good, the fairways are great and the greens are really good as well. So long as it doesn’t blow too much or we don’t get too much rain I would expect the scores to be low."
A further shot back is Peter Wilson while Rory Bourke and Jason Scrivener round out the top-5 on the leaderboard.
The second round cut was made at 5-under the card with xx Professionals and xx amateurs making the weekend rounds.
The third round of the NSW Open will tee off at 7am with the lead group of Blyth, Millar and Wilson on course at 11.15am.
