The rest of the field found the going tough around Lakelands Country Club and hope to challenge the leaders with another 36 hole day in front of them tomorrow.
Damian Chatterley the Lakelands CC Head Professional thought the number would be around even par prior to the event and has thus far been proven correct.
"It’s just hard to keep a good score going around here, because the layout is very tight off the tee. You don’t have to be off by much to find trouble. Combine that with some very quick greens and it’s always going to be a battle," said Chatterley.
Becker a second year PGA Trainee has earned his playing stripes this year after leading the countries rounds played category for the PGA’s Trainees. Those rounds and the highly competitive playing experiences whilst on tour seem to be paying off.
"I’ve really put in a lot of time and effort to compete this year. I wanted to play against the best this season so that I could learn, and get a benchmark across the WA/ NT swing to see what I needed to work on. The plan has always been to take those lessons home with me to practise and improve", said Becker.
"It’s not over yet" said Martin. "With 36 to play tomorrow anything can happen". Martin and Becker have been battling all year throughout their trainee matches and it only seems fitting "We’ll go head to head tomorrow for the championship, added Martin." Hopefully we can push each other and play some great golf when year-long bragging rights are on the line."
