After a low scoring first round more challenging conditions
greeted players this morning at Remuera Golf Club for the Holden NZ PGA
Championship.
The wind has picked up, causing the easiest hole on course
yesterday the par-5 1st to be playing into the breeze.
Neven Basic managed to maintain his place on the leaderboard
with a mixed round of 2-under 70 which included six birdies, two bogeys and a
double bogey.
Peter Fowler, who is based in Auckland, fired just 1-under
the card but managed to stay in touch of the lead.
Playing with Fowler, Lonard had a solid 3-under 69 and is
now inside the top-10 on 5-under the card.
Starting the day outside the cut line New Zealander Doug
Holloway fired an impressive 4-under 68 to ensure his place in the field on the
weekend.
Not so fortunate was Defending Champion Mike Hendry who with
rounds of 73, 72 is likely to miss the cut.
The afternoon field, including tournament leader Kristopher
Mueck, are now on course.
