Baglin, Hall share spoils in King Island return

Ashley Hall and Roland Baglin have won the 2021 Air Adventure King Island Pro-Am in the PGA Pro-Am Series’ return to the picturesque Cape Wickham Links and Ocean Dunes Golf Course.

Baglin led the field of 25 Professionals and 75 amateurs at the conclusion of round 1 at Cape Wickham on 39 points, ahead of Ryan Haywood on 38 points and Ash Hall on 37 points.

Highlighting the day at Cape Wickham, however, was an albatross from Hall on the par-5 9th where he hit driver and 6-iron to make one of the rarest scores in golf.

After trailing Baglin by two points at the conclusion of round one, Hall made the most of cooler conditions in round two at Ocean Dunes Golf Course to post the second best score of the day, a 35, for a winning score of 72.

A second round of 33 at Ocean Dunes helped Baglin to his final score of 72, five points ahead of third-place getter Cameron John at 67.

In true King Island form, Baglin and Hall took home not only the lion’s share of the prize purse but also a crayfish each.

“It’s always a pleasure to come across to King Island because you always know it will be a great experience. Both golf courses were presented beautifully,” said Hall.

“Air Adventures make the trip over incredibly easy and the event is always great to be a part of.”

Heath Jones and Raffael Toperoso tied for fourth place with total scores of 65 points after they each recorded 36 points in round two for the best scores of the day.

Hall will now travel to Victoria’s Gippsland region for the Big Garage Subaru Bairnsdale Pro-Am and Latrobe City WIN Network Traralgon Pro-Am Classic ahead of the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia’s Gippsland Super 6 next week.
