After his worst season on the PGA TOUR Aaron Baddeley’s game is showing signs of life after another encouraging week in Mexico.
Baddeley stormed to a top five finish at the Sanderson Farms tournament a week ago then opened the OHL Classic with a superb 65, good enough for a share of the lead through 18 holes.
While he couldn’t quite keep the momentum going and slipped to an eventual T46 finish, the week marked his third consecutive made cut, a feat he hadn’t achieved since this time last year.
Three times a TOUR winner, Baddeley kept his card for 13 straight seasons prior to this year and seems determined to get back to the main circuit before the end of 2016.
With limited status playing opportunities will be hard to come by but some hot scoring in recent weeks, including four of his last eight rounds being in the 60’s, are certainly good signs.
Baddeley was one of six Australians to make the trip to Mayakoba for the tournament, he and Robert Allenby the only two to survive the cut.
Allenby has played all four events of the new season but cashed his only cheque so far with rounds of 69-71-70-73 to be T68.
The PGA TOUR veteran had the worst season of his 17 year US career in 2014/15 and is playing the 2015/16 season on a career money list exemption.
Rod Pampling, Geoff Ogilvy, Rhein Gibson and Stuart Appleby all missed the weekend’s play.
