When U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying tees off at Walton Heath there will be 12 Australians and New Zealander Ryan Fox chasing a place in the year’s second major.

"AndrewHaving to play 36 holes in one day both the old and new courses at Walton Heath will be utilised as 114 players chase a yet to be determined amount of exemptions.

Coming into the day in excellent form is Andrew Dodt who finished tied 6th at the BMW PGA Championship after leading into the final round.

Having carried Dodt’s bag last week; Dimitrios Papadatos is excellent form himself. The New South Welshman headed straight to the UK after winning the TX Civil & Logistics WA PGA Championship, his second victory on the ISPS HANDA PGA Tour of Australasia in 2017.

Also at qualifying this week, West Australian Jarryd Felton finished tied 9th at the tournament won by Papadatos, ensuring he has never finished outside the top-10 in his state PGA Championship.

South Aussie; Nick Cullen also comes into qualifying fresh off a good result. Playing on the Challenge Tour, Cullen finished tied 8th at the Czech Challenge.

Also in the field are Adam Blyth, Sam Brazel, Richard Green, Wade Ormsby, Scott Hend, Travis Smyth and amateurs Min Woo Lee and Harrison Endycott.

Australians already exempt into the U.S. Open, to be played at Erin Hills from 12-18 June, are Jason Day, Marc Leishman and Adam Scott.
