Cameron Percy will be the only Australian to graduate to the PGA TOUR for the 2014/15 season after the final event of the Web.com Finals Series, the Tour Championship, at the weekend.
Percy, who was assured of a card after finishing inside the top 25 on the money list at the end of the regular season four weeks ago, will be the 26th player in the priority rankings when the PGA TOUR gets underway on October 6.
Greg Chalmers began the week in 39th position and with a good chance of heading back to the main TOUR next year but dropped to 55th after missing the cut at TPC Sawgrass.
James Nitties, 67th coming into the week, was projected to finish as high as 33rd through 36 holes after playing his way into the top five in the tournament but faded over the weekend to finish in 69th position.
Only five of the 13 Australians who teed up in the Tour Championship made the cut with Bronson La’Cassie the best of them at the end of the week in a share of 31st.
Nitties was next best T37 followed by Percy (T40), Rod Pampling (T46) and Mathew Goggin (T61).
Missing the weekend were Alistair Presnell, Greg Chalmers, Adam Crawford, Scott Gardiner, Ash Hall, Aron Price, Steve Allan and Scott Hend.
It was a particularly disappointing result for Chalmers who first earned a PGA TOUR card in 1999 though has twice been relegated to the secondary tour in the 15 years since.
Chalmers was one of 75 PGA TOUR players who finished between 126-200 on the FedEx Cup points list and teed up in the four tournament Web.com Finals Series which has replaced the Q-School as the path to the PGA TOUR.
The left hander had plenty of opportunities to secure his spot over the closing weeks of the main TOUR season, and again in the Web.com Finals Series, but his play was erratic and eventually proved costly.
Like Chalmers Bronson La’Cassie and Scott Gardiner played the 2013/14 season on the PGA TOUR but failed to finish inside the top 125 and will now return to the Web.com Tour for the 2014/15 season.
