The world is buzzing about Aussie golf and with the first major of the year just around the corner the Australian contingent couldn’t be in better shape.

Jason Day won the Arnold Palmer Invitational wire-to-wire this morning despite not bringing his "A game" to the final round.

However Day produced some late magic with a birdie at the challengingpar-3 17^th and a clutch up-and-down from the sand for par at the 18^thto win the title by one shot on 17-under the card.

Day is just the latest of a string of Australians to havewon around the world this year.

Marcus Fraser got the ball rolling notching up the first Aussie victory of 2016 at the European Tour’s Maybank Championship Malaysia on 21 February.

The following week Adam Scott defied the critics winning with a short putter at the PGA TOUR’s Honda Classic.

Showing his class and talent, Scott backed this up the very next week claiming the World Golf Championship – Cadillac Championship.

Keeping the Aussie winning streak going was Scott Hend who won the True Thailand Classic, a European Tour and Asian Tour co-sanctioned tournament, on 13 March.

Day’s win today caps off a five week stretch where an Aussie has picked up a title on one of the major Tour’s around the world each week.

"It’s been a wonderful five weeks for Australian golf, the depth of talent we have competing around the world is truly phenomenal," said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of Australia.

"It’s a testament to the entire Australian golf industry. These champions have come through junior programs, been offered some of the best training in the world via our country’s elite programs and have wonderful PGA Professional’s coaching them."

"For such a small country to have produced so many wonderful golfers is something we can all be proud of."

With The Masters teeing off on 7 April we have our best chance of seeing another Australian champion since Adam Scott slipped on the green jacket in 2013.

"Bring on The Masters; it’s as simple as that! Aussie golf truly is in a golden era with many of our proven champions firing and the next generation also starting to shine on the world stage," said Thorburn.

"This year we will be represented by Adam Scott, Jason Day, Steven Bowditch, Marc Leishman and Cameron Smith who will make his debut."

"I am sure it won’t be long until we see many more of the young gun Aussies like Jason Scrivener and Nathan Holman gracing the hallowed turf of Augusta for the first time," continued Thorburn.

"It’s an exciting time for Australian golf and I can’t wait to watch it unfold."
