Scott Arnold will be the lone Australian in the field at this week’s EMC Challenge Open in Italy as he tries to play his way on to the 2016 European Tour.
Having notched his first Challenge Tour win two starts ago Arnold is playing with confidence and at 22nd on the Order of Merit is within touching distance of the main tour next year.
Arnold played the European Tour in 2013 with little success but after two seasons on the secondary tour is a more rounded player who will be keen to get back to the big stage.
The top-15 at the end of the Challenge Tour season graduate to the European Tour and Arnold likely needs around €30,000 more in earnings to make it into their number.
Three events remain on the schedule after this week and Arnold knows he needs to play well in all if he is to achieve his goal.
Arnold missed the cut in his only previous appearance at this tournament last year but it would be a surprise if that were to happen again this year.
