If only PGA TOUR events started on Monday.

Aussie veteran Steve Allan has qualified for his second straight start on golf’s richest tour after once again topping Monday qualifying, this time earning a place at the Barbasol Championship in Kentucky.

A week after breaking an 18-month absence on the PGA TOUR, the 45-year-old shot his second consecutive Monday 63 at Boone’s Trace National Golf Club in Richmond, Kentucky to join fellow Aussies Rod Pampling, Matt Jones, Robert Allenby, Cameron Davis, Rod Pampling, John Senden and New Zealand’s Danny Lee.

Allan made his return to the PGA TOUR at last week’s John Deere Classic but after a promising 69 in the first round missed the cut due to a horror back nine in his second round, five bogeys and a double-bogey contributing to a 6-over 77.

Of those teeing it up this week Lee was the best performer at Keene Trace Golf Club 12 months ago, four sub-70 rounds enough for a tie for 21st.

On track to continue his streak of qualifying for the FedEx Cup playoffs each year he has been on tour, Lee will be hoping to improve on his current standing of 59th on the moneylist and give himself a chance of bettering his 2015 performance where he finished ninth in the final FedEx Cup standings.

A surprised front-runner at the PGA Championship courtesy of an opening round of 64 at Bethpage Black, Lee has missed the cut in his two most recent starts.

With just three regular-season events remaining until the FedEx Cup playoffs it is getting down to crunch time for Matt Jones.

The New South Welshman hasn’t qualified to play all four rounds of a tournament since The Memorial in early June and has now slipped to 119 in the standings and in serious danger of slipping out of the top 125 who will play The Northern Trust.
