Arnold survives nightmare week

The European Challenge Tour’s Made in Denmark Challenge might have been the most difficult event on any Professional tour this year with just 13 scores in the 60’s recorded for the entire week.

The European Challenge Tour’s Made in Denmark Challenge might have been the most difficult event on any Professional tour this year with just 13 scores in the 60’s recorded for the entire week.

"ScottNot a single player broke 70 in Sunday’s
final round at Copenhagen’s Royal Golf Club, Scott Arnold the best of the
Australians at 13-over-par and in a share of 30th place.

Arnold was one of only four players to
break 70 in Saturday’s third round on a course which saw 520 double bogies and
1,872 bogies made over the course of the week against just 928 birdies.

Terry Pilkadaris was just a shot behind
Arnold in a share of 33rd while rookie Todd Sinnott found the going
tough and missed the 36-hole cut which came at 8-over-par.

Players coming off the 18th hole
Sunday attested how difficult the course played, eventual winner Max Orrin of
England describing the experience as "the toughest conditions I have ever
played in."

While the Royal Golf Club was set up as a
tough test regardless of weather, strong winds made the weekend rounds, and
Sunday in particular, brutally difficult.

The par-5 17th was the only hole
on the course to play under its par in the final round with an average of 4.98
while the par-5 3rd played to exactly 5.00.

Not a single birdie was recorded on the 18th
hole on the final day, the 438 metre par-4 playing to an almost unfathomable
average of 4.88.
