Peter Senior’s hopes of claiming a Senior Tour major were dashed when he was forced to withdraw from the Constellation Senior Player’s Championship in the third round.
Senior, who missed all three Australian tournaments for the first time in 35 years last summer because of a shoulder injury, had played just eight holes of Saturday’s round when he was forced to stop.
A report on the PGA TOUR website said Senior was suffering tendonitis in his elbow and shoulder though it is unclear if it is related to last year’s injury.
The 55-year-old, who has done everything but win in a remarkable second career on the US Champions Tour, was even par after the first two rounds but well back of leader Bernhard Langer who opened with back to back 65’s t be 12-under through 36 holes.
