Jason Scrivener will be looking to replicate his start to 2015 when he is the lone Australian to tee up at this week’s South African Open in Johannesburg.

""The West Australian, who was born in South Africa but moved to Perth as a child, made his debut as a European Tour member at this tournament last year and posted what turned out to be his second best finish of the season with a T11.

Having survived the Q-School to gain membership it was an impressive debut and while he went on to narrowly miss keeping his card another good Q-School run sees him back in Europe in 2016.

With his first full season as a Touring Professional now under his belt 2016 looks set to be a breakout year for the 26-year-old who sits 45th on the Race to Dubai standings after two events of the season.

His play at the Glendower course last year, which will host again this week, was highlighted by a third round 66 so he will tee up Thursday confident he can go low and looking to improve on last year’s result.

Scrivener’s last outing was the Australian PGA Championship where a third round 79 derailed an otherwise good week on a difficult golf course and there were a lot of positives to take from his final tournament of 2015.
