Golf industry unites for inaugural Premier’s Cup


The Victorian Premier, Hon. Daniel Andrews, played host to the high rollers of Melbourne’s corporate world, professional golf and celebrities at Royal Melbourne Golf Club today for the inaugural Premier’s Cup.

"RoyalRun in conjunction with the Australian Golf Industry Council (AGIC) the day saw corporates, celebrities and politicians tee it up side by side and showcase their golfing prowess to raise money for the Royal Children’s Hospital.

Premier Daniel Andrews said the event was an opportunity for the corporate and golf communities to support a fantastic cause, and he was blown away by the wonderful response.

"The Royal Children’s Hospital has cared for Victorian children and their families for 140 years and we all have a part to play in ensuring it can continue its great work."

The Premier’s Cup provided a great networking opportunity between Members of Parliament, corporate participants and the golf industry.

Chairman of the AGIC and PGA of Australia Chief Executive Officer, Brian Thorburn, was thrilled with the success of the event in its first year.

Chief Executive Officer of The Royal Children’s Hospital Foundation, Sue Hunt, said they were delighted to have been chosen as the recipient of funds from the inaugural Premier’s Cup.

"The funds raised from today’s event will make an enormous impact to the lives of thousands of sick children and their families," said Ms Hunt. "I extend our thanks and gratitude to everyone who supported the inaugural Premier’s Cup."

Tonight’s Gala Dinner and auction will
raise further funds, with the final cheque to be presented by the Premier
Daniel Andrews as part of the Good Friday Appeal campaign on March 25, 2016.
