Australia’s two most recent European Tour winners, Marcus Fraser and Scott Hend, spearhead a strong field at this week’s Hero Indian Open where three time major winner Padraig Harrington headlines the tournament.

"ScottFraser was one shot out of a play-off at the inaugural staging of this event last year, a double bogey and bogey in his last nine holes proving his undoing as Anirban Lahiri claimed the title.

The Victorian will be looking to go one better this year though, a solid start to 2016 seeing him inside the top 10 on the Race to Dubai standings already.

The claustrophobic Delhi Golf Club is host venue for the event, the course demanding some of the straightest hitting of any layout for a professional tournament in the world.

That plays to Fraser’s strengths, not only because of his accurate driving but with every player in the field likely to miss a lot of fairways and hence a lot of greens, it is an opportunity for his short game to shine.

While the style of course is less suited to Scott Hend’s game the Queenslander is always a danger when his confidence is high and his performance last week in Thailand will have him walking on air in India this week.

Still one of the longest hitters in the game at 42, if Hendcan keep his driver under control there is no reason he can’t be amongst the leaders come Sunday.

Fraser and Hend are among 10 Australians travelling to Indiafor the last of the Asian Tour co-sanctioned events, Wade Ormsby, Brett Rumford and Jason Scrivener their fellow Euro regulars making the journey.

From the Asian tour Sam Brazel, David Gleeson, Terry Pilkadaris,Scott Barr and Kalem Richardson make the journey to a course where none has had any real success.

Brazel, Barr and Pilkadaris all missed the cut last year, as did Scott Hend, while Wade Ormsby, Kalem Richardson and Jason Scrivener were all mid field at week’s end.
