After posting his first top-10 finish last
week in his rookie Challenge Tour season David Bransdon will be looking to
build on his good play at this week’s Swiss Challenge.
Several of the Challenge Tour’s top players
have stepped up to the European Tour for the week meaning Bransdon and fellow
Australian Geoff Drakeford have a big opportunity.
Bransdon, the reigning Queensland Open
champion, shot four sub 70 rounds at last week’s Czech Challenge to be T7 and
move to 50th on the Order of Merit.
The top-45 at season’s end retain playing
privileges while the top-15 graduate to the European Tour and Bransdon will
have both in his sights this week.
For Drakeford it is an important week as
his status will allow only limited playing opportunities this year and he needs
to make the most of them.
He has played just one event of the six
staged to date, a T31 finish at the Turkish Airlines Challenge not enough to
put him in the top-100 in earnings.
Drakeford played the Swiss event last year
and finished T24, a result he will clearly be looking to improve on this week.
