Big hitting Canadian Jamie Sadlowski is headed to the Gold
Coast to compete in the Australian PGA Championship.
The two-time long drive champion will enthral crowds at RACV
Royal Pines Resort with his long hitting prowess.
With a personal best drive of 406.91m, Sadlowski will need
more than just his driver if he hopes to walk away with the Joe Kirkwood Cup.
"Since 2003 I have been competing in the World Long Drive
Championships but last year I decided I could be doing much more than that and
while I am still young I want to give playing a try," said Sadlowski.
"I am not new to the game; I have been playing my whole
life. To say there are big blemishes in my game I would disagree with.
"Is it as sharp as I would like it to be? Probably not. I
haven’t been doing this for a living every day like these guys, but I am
getting better at it and hopefully when it all comes together the end result is
winning some golf tournaments."
Sadlowski is sure to be popular with fans at the Australian
PGA Championship as they watch to see if he can drive the par-4’s at RACV Royal
Pines Resort.
"The par-4 4th and 7th holes at RACV
Royal Pines Resort measure 405 metres each, last year no one was able to eagle
either of these holes during the Championship, however with Jamie in the field
that might be a different story," said Brian Thorburn, CEO of the PGA of
Australia.
"Jamie is clearly an exciting talent to watch and we look
forward to welcoming him to the Australian PGA Championship."
Sadlowski will join a deep line up of talent headlined by
World Number 6 Adam Scott, 12 time European Tour winner Ian Poulter , World
Number 48 Marc Leishman, Olympians Scott Hend and Marcus Fraser, PGA Tour
player Harold Varner III and defending champion Nathan Holman.
The Australian
PGA Championship is proudly supported by the Queensland Government through
Tourism and Events Queensland’s It’s Live! in Queensland major events calendar.
The
Australian PGA Championship will be played at RACV Royal Pines Resort from 1-4
December with tickets on sale via Ticketek.
