Jamie Arnold’s improved play has continued on the US’ secondary Web.com Tour, the 33-year-old taking top Australian honours at the rain shortened BMW Charity Pro-Am in South Carolina.
After a difficult start to the season which saw him miss five cuts in his first six events, Arnold has played the weekend in each of his last three starts and was a model of consistency this week.
With the final round cancelled due to bad weather, Arnold’s three straight scores of 68 at the three courses used for the tournament was good for a 10-under total and a share of 34th position.
Arnold remains well down the standings at 90th on the money list but will take confidence from his recent play as the schedule heads towards its halfway mark.
Rhein Gibson was the only other Australian to make the cut and finished a shot behind Arnold at T44.
Steve Allan, Mathew Goggin, Mark Hensby and former winner Nick Flanagan all missed the cut, Flanagan by just a shot after an impressive third round 65.
Flanagan has played almost no competitive golf the past two seasons after undergoing surgery on an injured thumb in 2014 and losing his card at the end of 2015.
Hensby and Goggin were both unable to recover from opening rounds of 78.
