14-time Japan Tour winner Brendan Jones is rounding into form with a T3 finish at the JGT Championship over the weekend.

""Jones entered the final round sharing the lead with the Philippines’ Angelo Que but both were overtaken by red hot South African Shaun Norris whose 7-under 64 was the best of the day by two shots.

Jones is Australia’s most successful Japan Tour player and has been quietly improving with each event in 2017.

After withdrawing from the Kansai Championship two weeks ago Jones finished T16 the following week and improved again with this week’s close call.

It was a good week for the Australian contingent with Brad Kennedy also finishing in the top-5 for the third time this season.

The consistent Queenslander had a disappointing finish last week at an event where he is a previous winner but hit back with some good play at Shishido Hills.

New Zealand’s Michael Hendry was next best of the Australasians as he raced up the leaderboard with a final round 66.

The seven birdie, two bogey Sunday moved Hendry 34 places up the standings and kept him inside the top-20 on the money list.

Won Joon Lee and David Bransdon were the other Australians to make the cut, Lee slipping from inside the top-15 through three rounds with a Sunday 76 to be T27.

Bransdon’s week followed the opposite pattern, the Victorian overcoming a difficult start with a 77 to make the cut on the number then climb to T36 with some decent weekend golf.

Adam Bland, Todd Sinnott, Kurt Barnes and New Zealand’s Ben Campbell all missed the cut, Bland and Sinnott by a single shot.
