Queensland’s Christopher Wood has posted his best finish on the China Tour with a runner-up result at the Pure Pu’Er Tea Championship in Kunming.

""Wood took a one shot lead into the final round but was overtaken by American Sejun Yoon on a difficult day for scoring at the Kunming Wind Valley Club.

Wood started the week hot with an opening 63 to be one off the pace set by Yoon then impressed by following up with back to back rounds of 68.

He stretched the advantage with a birdie at the first hole on Sunday but found the going tough the rest of the day with three dropped shots over the next 16 holes.

Yoon was struggling also and Wood remained just one behind after 16 holes before a birdie by the American at the 17th made the difference two with one to play.

To his credit Wood birdied the 72nd hole to apply the pressure but was relegated to second place when Yoon made par.

The outright second place finish was Wood’s best in two years on the China Tour and will move him several places up the Order of Merit.

Corey Hale and Deyen Lawson also finished inside the top-10, Lawson keeping alive a perfect record for the season.

The promising Victorian hasn’t finished outside the top-10 in six starts in 2017 and is inside the top-5 on the Order of Merit.

New Zealand’s Fraser Wilkin was next best of the Australasians at 18th, Mitchell Brown and Peter Martin a shot further back and T19.

Max McCardle (T33), Daniel Nisbet (T36), Jichel Jung (T39), and Daniel Pearce (T46) were the others to make the cut.

Jack Munro was disqualified for unknown reasons after the third-round while Kevin Yuan and Austin Batista missed the weekend.
