Italian Luca Cianchetti will make his first visit to Australia next month for the NSW Open at Twin Creeks Golf and Country Club.
Winner of the 2016 European Amateur Championship, 22-year old Cianchetti turned Professional at the beginning of 2017 and since then has been splitting his time between the Challenge Tour and European Tour.
“I’m really looking forward to playing in the NSW Open,” Cianchetti said.
Cianchetti, who qualified for this year’s Open Championship at Birkdale was introduced to the game at age 10 by his grandfather near his home in Monte Simone, a mountainous area between the famous towns of Modena and Florence.
He follows a long line of outstanding Italian golfers who have made names for themselves on the world stage, including Francesco and Edoardo Molinari, and his mentor, Matteo Manassero.
“Everyone knows about the passion of sports fans in Australia and I’ve heard so many great things about the tournament and overall experience. I can’t wait to get over there,” he smiled.
Graeme Phillipson General Manager of Golf at Golf NSW, was thrilled with the addition of Cianchetti to the Championship field.
"We are really pleased to offer a player like Luca a start in the NSW Open. He had a wonderful amateur career and is destined to become a star on the European or PGA TOUR," Mr. Phillipson said.
